Charleston Island Living...

Photography by Lily Lewin

Dahhlings, I have missed you! It has been a very busy summer for me and I trust for you also.
Recently completed a decorating project for one of my favorite decorating clients: La Marquesa!  I decorated her house in the Garden and it was only with great pleasure that I accepted her request to decorate her petit Island home in the genteel city of Charleston in South Carolina.

The garden as well as other cities close to the ocean, have in the recent years been plagued by the decorating disease of the "Coastal" theme... you know ropes, sea shells, drift wood, did I mention sea shells?
Well not for me dahhling! The house might be on an Island, quite literally, but there was no "coastal" cheap tricks here... I wanted to create a serene and comfortable space that would reflect the people who live in the space, taking into consideration the location of the house but not allowing it to rule.

and so with this in mind, I decided on a color scheme of navy, gray and natural finishes with a nod to the chic & glamour of the summer houses of Palm Beach of another era.   My favorite space?  The dining room!

Every Island home needs outdoor entertaining spaces and this house was no exception, obvio, no typical beach house outdoor furniture would do for this house... here is a dash of a summer in New Port.

Until soonest.
